Creative Communities Scheme Fund enables art classes for young and old...
Council has just announced the latest round from the Creative Communities Scheme Fund. The fund is provided by Creative New Zealand to encourage, promote and support the arts in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The two successful applicants are offering community art classes for young and old - no time like the present to dust off the paint brushes and discover the artist within!
Te Ha o Te Matauranga received funding to deliver art classes for our tamariki and their whanau. Rosvita Haas will deliver a holiday art class from January 11 to the January 28. There will be two classes each week and a variety of mediums will be covered including drawing, charcoal and painting.
Two other classes are proposed including a 6 week after-school drawing class and a three session after-school cyanotype class. Contact Sarah Beardmore on 027 807 2874 to book a place on the classes or for more information.
The Kaikōura Arts Society received funding for ‘Give it a Go’ Art Classes coordinated by Kd Scattergood. This is a series of 10 workshops held twice a month between February and June 2021. Each workshop is held twice, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. This will provide opportunities for people who may be retired, working or attending school to participate.
The ‘Give it a Go’ workshops will encourage participants to explore their creativity, learn new techniques and hone existing practices. All materials will be supplied for the workshop eliminating the cost barrier to trying new techniques.
Kaikōura Art Society began in 1962 as a centre for painting and sketching in Kaikōura, founded by famous NZ painter, Cora Wilding. The ‘Give it a Go’ workshops are a chance for existing members to stretch their skills and try new things, while new members are encouraged to join the society through the workshops.
